Foster, Hal

Hal Foster is one of the true giants of comic art. He started out doing the Sunday pages for Tarzan. On February 13, 1937 he began his own strip Prince Valiant. The masterwork of his lifetime. The incredible quality of the strip's art immediately set it apart from other strips on the Sunday page. It quickly jumped to the top of reader's must-read list in cities across the country. Within two years reprints of the strip were appearing in Ace Comics. The strip was so popular that it was made into a film starring Robert Wagner in 1954. Foster was recognized by his peers when The National Cartoonists' Society gave him the Reuben in 1957 and the U.S. Post Office put Valiant on a stamp in 1995. Comicart.dk is proud to be able to present Hal Foster in his own gallery. Keep an eye out - we've got some amazing stuff coming.
