Bellamy, Frank
Frank Bellamy (1917-1976) was one of the finest artists in the world of British comics and illustration. Known for his famous comic strip "Garth" and the science fiction series "Thunderbirds". Frank Bellamy, Illustrator and cartoonist, was born in Kettering. His work appeared in newspapers and comics. He started work at an advertising studio and then for a newspaper, later drawing for the Eagle and Dan Dare comics. The American Academy of Comic Book Arts gave him their foreign comics award in 1972. The Daily Mirror ran a comic strip series ‘Garth’ for five years and he also contributed to Thunderbirds, Doctor Who and Star Trek stories for various comics. Other work included portrait and life drawing which were exhibited at the Royal Institute Galleries. Comicart.dk proudly presents the work of Bellamy, one of our British heroes!
